About Sean McGurrin

"Have Music, Will Travel"

Born in Leitrim, Ireland into a family of musicians, Sean McGurrin was introduced to music at the tender age of 6 when his dad, a professional guitarist himself, began taking Sean with him to the local pubs to act as his personal cheering section. It wasn't many years later when father and son sat side by side at the piano and entertained the crowd together. Sean left Leitrim in 1999 to study music in Dublin and thus began his musical journey which has seen him leave his home in Ireland, travel the world with his guitar and finally settle down in the South of Germany.

Spurred on by his education in Dublin, Sean started out as a session artist collaborating with internationally renowned names such as "the Pogues" guitarist Jamie Clarke, Sean Treacy and Georg Grimm of the "Albert Lee Project", as well as known local musicians The Krusty Moors and Tobias Langguth. He has also performed with various touring singer/songwriters from America such as James 'Jpat' Dalton and Cathrine Feeny. In 2008, Sean decided to form his own solo project: Sean McGurrin & Friends, releasing their first self-titled EP in 2010. The EP was a mix of covers paying tribute to many of Sean's early musical idols and influences. It was sold out during the ensuing Germany tour.

Sean's young career has already taken him to Amsterdam and Brazil along with regular tours of his adopted home in Germany as well as the honour of being the only Irish musician to ever play at the famous EUROfestival in Mannheim in 2010. His first original album titled "Falling" released in late 2010 was extremely well received and work on a follow up, slated for Autumn 2011, has already begun.
